Sisal or cardboard — which lasts longer?
Sisal. Rope-wrapped posts stand up to daily use for months, while corrugated cardboard compresses and needs replacing every few months. Cardboard is cheaper and many cats prefer to lie on it, so a lot of households keep one of each.
How tall should a cat tree be for two cats?
Look for at least two platforms at different heights rather than one tall tower. Cats share vertical space by taking turns at different levels, so two perches on a 40-inch tree work better than a single perch on a 60-inch one.
My cat ignores scratching posts. What now?
Put the post where the scratching already happens — next to the couch arm, not in a spare room. Most cats stretch upward, so the post needs enough clear height for a full stretch, and it has to stay steady when they lean on it.
